//Art: Calvin Waterman x Max Ackerman
We at //Apk have a strong respect and appreciation for all the arts. Visual, musical or otherwise, art is an important part of our job here and serves a crucial role in society as a whole. Having worked with artists the likes of Steve Powers (ESPO) and Todd James (REAS) on MOCA’s ‘Art in the Streets’ exhibit, we have seen some pretty incredible street art and know what it is that makes a given piece special.
Above is a collaborative piece by friends Calvin Waterman and Max Ackerman. With help from Lamar Advertising these two dudes created a larger than life piece titled #2(HB). The giant pencil spans across two billboards that were once prime advertising space for Interstate 195. Since the destruction of that section of highway, the billboards became giant holes in the Providence skyline, neither here nor there, stuck in unpurposed limbo. #2(HB) utilizes that forgotten space and serves as a means to re-connnect Providence’s Jewelry District with the people who live and work there. Also, its pretty fun to look at. Check out the #2(HB) website for more info including on where to see it, more info on the artists and how to contact them. Follow, follow and like.
